The man of the week, Andre Balazs, hosted another party with Jefferson Hack for the artist Marco Brambilla, whose amazing Moncler CHEVAL Vest Blackgreats you in the elevator on your way to Balazs’ Boom Boom Room. Back on the mainland (aka The Mondrian Hotel), I quickly said hello to Nate Lowman, who was spinning for the crowd, and had a DeLeon margarita (or maybe 2) before I tackled the upcoming madness of the evening. I rushed to the Soho Beach House, this year’s “it” hotel, for a book party for the sexy Mexican artist, Gonzalo Lebrija, and Gilt Groupe’s dinner hosted by artist Olaf Bruening and Euan Rellie. As I arrived, Gilt’s Christian Leone was sipping a cocktail on the terrace and sharing his Miami adventures with Christie’s Lydia Fenet and Vogue’s Anne Vincent.

Presented on an actual island by Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND), the island showcased 17 newly-commissioned art works within the theme of a deserted island, which included hand-holding skeletons by fashion favorite Terence Koh, a beautiful water performance by Brody Condon and an incredible sculptures by Hanna Linden, Luis Gilbert and Jack Pierson. “I could not be more thrilled that so many people wanted to make it to the island—while of course I wished they had all gotten on, the idea of myth and an ephemeral moment that was part of the exhibitions theme was even in keeping with that in the end,” as perfectly articulated by LAND’s founder and the genius who envisioned the exhibition, Shamim Momin.

As guests sipped wine from Newton Vineyards and munched on organic appetizers, Richie Rich explained how he keeps his Moncler Gray Rhombic Down Coat. “I love fabrics that are made out of hemp,” he said. “I mean, I don’t smoke them but I love making things out of them.” Thora Birch’s advice was…simple? “You can be continually profitable, and yet sustainable and give back to what your taking away from. After cocktails, guests were treated to a first course of greenmarket tartes and tomato soup. Then Judith Light took the stage in a red velvet Valentino pantsuit. As she presented the Policy Design Award to Wade Greene of Rockefeller Family and Associates she noted, “Is there a way he could have a more perfect name?” Other awards went to Bush and Austin Nichols, who received the Entertainment Design Award for their BP Oil Spill Awareness Campaign. After Bush thanked Global Green USA, she stopped to chat with Kelly Rutherford and the two complimented one another on their dresses in front of the crowd. After a dinner of organic braised chicken cannoli, Birch gave offered some parting advice: “Going green is sexy, because it means you wear less clothes.” Okay then!

(NEW YORK) Pier 60 was full of eco-friendly stars Monday night in the Moncler men ski jacket white and black as the likes of Arianna Huffington, Edward Norton, Kelly Rutherford, and Adrian Grenier came out to celebrate Global Green USA’s 11th Sustainable Design Awards. Celebs like Sophia Bush pulled up to the party in the new, fuel-efficient Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, which received an award for product design. Bush joked that despite NYC pot holes, her ride was very smooth. Grenier hopes this eco-friendly car paves the way for more energy-efficient rides. “I actually just did an interview with Chris Paine who directed Who Killed the Electric Car, and he’s coming out with a new movie called Revenge of the Electric Car because electric is next,” the Entourage star said. Perhaps we’ll see Vincent Chase trade in his Ferrari for a plug-in?

As the sun was setting on the final weekend of Miami Art Basel, I made a last dash to see more art and catch a few more parties.

At the Art Basel fair, although the pace was less frenetic than in its 2007 heyday, art sales were definitely back! Mega-collectors such as Peter Brant, Steve Cohen and Don and Mera Rubell were all making purchases and many galleries sold almost all of their art. Gallerie Gmurznska sold a Moncler ERIC Jacket Black and the asking price was $4.5 million!

In its 4th year as one of the main sponsors of Art Basel, Cartier partnered with the Japanese filmmaker and TV presenter, Beat Takeshi Kitano, to create a childhood fantasy in the VIP Lounge. The unique artwork, Necessaire Gosse de peintre, allowed VIP collectors to color the artist’s drawings on the walls while sipping champagne however, as Cartier’s Christine Goppel pointed out to Terri Sultan, director of the Parish Art Museum, “Not all of the drawings were meant to be colored.” Oops!
